Amtrak Trainwind Ride

# 821  Heartland Flier
Oklahoma City  to Pauls Valley

2005

I called last night to make reservations on the Heartland Flyer to Pauls Valley today. I got a confirmation # from the automated lady named Julie. Then I talked to an agent since I wanted to pay for the tickets on the train in cash.  The agent gave me a boarding pass #. Thinking this was all I needed, along with my photo ID, imagine my surprise when the ticket agent wanted a reservation #.  Neither of the two numbers I had would suffice. Thankfully, Scott Freeman had talked to a different agent and had gotten a reservation #, which the frazzled ticket agent took and put 5 riders on the one number.
The 20 + mph south wind made a great tailwind ride and we had a blast.
If you are interested in taking the Heartland Flyer, call 800-872-7245. Don't tell them you have a bike but do make sure you get a reservation #. The train leaves Oklahoma City at 8:25 a.m. and arrives in Pauls Valley at 9:31.
We logged 66 miles back to Bricktown.
