OBS member, Clarence Weber had told Laurie and me about this ride after he ridden it in 2006.  Clarence said it was a very nice ride, so we decided to try it out.  Our good friends, Johnnie and Diana Lerma, met us in Weatherford as we all had reservations at the same motel for the weekend.  Upon arriving in Weatherford we found out where the packet pickup was and went to get our ride packets.  We had been to Weatherford before when we rode the rails to trails from Mineral Wells to Weatherford called Lake Mineral Wells State Trailway a couple of years ago.

We went to the start early on Saturday to get our bikes ready for the ride.  We were amazed at how many people were already lining up for the ride.  We started on a down hill, which was the first of many hills for the first 20 miles. We left at 7:30 with the 62 milers so we could leave earlier and maybe miss some of the Texas heat. We rode to the second rest stop and they had fresh sliced peaches and the normal rest stop items.  After eating a bunch of the peaches we rode on.  The people were real friendly.

Laurie was having trouble with the heat so we hurried to make it in to the finish.  After we got in we all went to the motel for showers.  Our room temp was about 40 deg.  They had the best AC I have ever experienced in a motel.

Sunday we rode the Lake Mineral Wells Trailway to Mineral Wells and back for a total of 45 miles before heading back to Oklahoma City.  It was a nice weekend. We might even go ride the Peach Pedal ride again.
