River Trail of Tulsa

March  2006

Early Saturday, March 25, 2006,  ten OBS riders left Oklahoma City for the River Ride of Tulsa following the Arkansas river.  We met at Starbucks coffee shop on Penn & Memorial in north Oklahoma City and caravanned to Sand Springs and the Tulsa Trails trailhead.  We arrived at about 10:00 with a 45 deg temp and north wind.  Waiting for us were Moni and Jerry Neville from Tulsa in the Walmart parking lot at the Sand Springs Trailhead .  Moni rode with us and became our own narrator for the trip.  Jerry went home or so we figured.  We stopped by several statues and photo ops along the way.  It was cold so we pretty much kept pedaling to stay warm.  We finally ended up at the River Walk along the south end of the trail in Jenks and had lunch at Gary's Grill.  Jerry came over from home to eat lunch with us.  Some of us had delicious homemade coconut cream pie for dessert.  After leaving there we rode part way back on the trails to the wooden bridge that takes you over the river to the west side.  Moni took us back on a bike route to Sand Springs and our vehicles.  It was about 3:00 when we got back, then we HAD to stop by the country kitchen to get more to eat and drink.  Laurie and I got home at almost 6:00 pm.  It was a very nice day to have a great ride with great friends.  It doesn't get any better than that.
