Spring Fling 2008
OBS Spring Fling 2008 was held at Martin's
Landing campground at Lake Murray
State Park. We had about
25 people that arrived at camp on Friday night. Laurie and I helped
Clarence set up his 2 story high tent on Friday afternoon and then we
investigated an alternative Saturday loop. We were told by the weather boys in Oklahoma City
that there would be a nice SOUTH wind on Saturday afternoon. As you guessed
it, they were WRONG!
Riding the alternate route, John, Clarence, Laurie and I
went
through little towns like Enville and Lebanon
to Kingston and
back to camp for a total of 56 miles.
The weather was very warm with the high Saturday of 88 degrees or so.
Sunday we
had a south wind, so we fought it going to
Marietta
for breakfast. Little did we know we would have to eat at Carl Jr’s.
The regular place, called Denim’s, sold out to
McDonalds, which they were busy building as we rode by in disappointment.
Our first OBS group campout of the season was a resounding success. Thanks
Gary Cannon for putting it all together.
